My Birthday Card to Sarah ::
Sarah,
I can’t tell you how happy I am to celebrate another year of your life. So today I extend a hope that all of your birthday wishes come true and a big ass thank you.
You are one of the most genuine, intelligent, whimsical women I have met in New York a long time. You have more talents than I can count on one hand, and I’m grateful you share your insight and experiences with me. I’ve learned so much from you about not only the digital space, but also friendship. You’re selfless beyond belief and embrace everyone with open arms.
A big thank you for the strength and support you’ve given me as a true friend. Despite the fact we only met a year ago, I feel like we instantly connected on so many levels to really develop a solid relationship. I can count on your support at any moment to help me get through tough times. You have been a cheerleader to make sure I always reach end zone.
And, you’re fun as hell!
Happy Birthday my love. You are an all-around beautiful woman and I am honored you call me “friend.”
Love, Mary
P.S. You know I’d hold out with the search party until the lightning comes!
Happy Holidays
There are some HYSTERICAL one-liners at someecards.com I considered posting, but I think we should use this holiday weekend to truly reflect on the role religion and spirituality plays in our life.
Within one congregation, inside the same temple, the followers of religion all have different beliefs about implementing the values and tenets into their lives. So instead of focusing on who finds more eggs, let’s open our eyes to discovering what we truly believe and how that is going to make us better people.
Then chow down :)
A reader brought Fake Twitter to my attention when they saw my first fake tweet. Honestly…I barely have time to read my emails, blog, and twitter, let alone do that work for someone else. Just when I think I’m starting to understand the digital space, more meaningless crap comes up like this. I’m not upset, I just don’t get it.
(P.S. I wrote the above entry. You guys love the word vapid.)
My first fake tweet. So disappointing. Come guys. Let’s at least be funny. I think I would say…. “Friday nite my flat ass is home watching Lost becos I don’t know how to reed” Ok, that’s not funny, but it’s more creative than thin hair!
Can I get back to Lost in peace now?
Catching Up On Lost
Sawyer: Either you cooperate and join the party in Dharmaville or you're on your own.
Sayid: I guess I'm on my own.
Me: This is getting good! I wonder if Kate will go back to Sawyer....
From a “work” perspective, we honestly get to say we’re drinking at our desk. Thanks for stopping by GV.
A Race To Tumblr
Me: What does GPOYW stand for?
Georgina: Gratutious Picture Of Yourself Wednesday.
Me: Oh. Haha. I do that everyday.
Georgina: Me too!
Me: Hahah (as I scroll to the top of my dashboard).
Georgina: I'm so blogging that.
Me: I was just clicking on my tumblr! Who can get there first?!
UPDATE: G got there first!
“Marley taught me about living each day with unbridled exuberance and joy, about seizing the moment and following your heart. He taught me to appreciate the simple things- a walk in the woods, a fresh snowfall, a nap in a shaft of winter sunlight. And as he grew old and achy, he taught me about optimism in the face of adversity. Mostly, he taught me about friendship and selflessness and, above all else,:: unwavering loyalty”

What a coincidence. This was the movie on the plane! This morning I was explaining to G how it’s not just a dog movie. You see the challenges Jenny and John face and difficult life choices they have to make in terms of their relationship, careers, and family. In the end, of course they’re happy, but several times during the movie, whether it be with words or even a glance, you can see doubt in their eyes. For me, this component made the movie enjoyable and got me thinking about my own life choices. And then I cried….not about life, about the dog!
Life isn’t easy, but I think we’ll all land on both feet.
An alternative host gift instead of wine: fine olive oil. :: If your friend likes to cook, treat them to a bottle of flavored olive oil that they normally wouldn’t buy for themselves. This gift shows not only appreciation for their hospitality, but also the thought you put into their interests. (Sorry for the cheese ball Hallmark post…I’m not sure what got into me.)
Time to simplify and restructure. Good thing memories are easy to pack because this place is filled with them.
WTF Vimeo?! I uploaded this video over 4 hours ago and it’s been in the “1 minute” line for over an hour. Not cool.
Random Quotes That Made Me Laugh
“When they tell me they have a boyfriend, all that means is I don’t have to buy him dinner first.” (in the frat house)
“The only healthy thing about granola is the name.” (a trainer)
“That’s how I found your blog. Researching for colonics.” (email)
Girl 1: You look Russian. Girl 2: Really? Why? Girl 1: Your red hair. Girl 2: Oh. I’m Armenian. Girl 1: People always tell me I look Armenian. Girl 2: Aren’t you? Girl 1: No, I’m Mexican. (overheard in the bathroom)
