Have you wished the Michelin Man a happy birthday? He’s sharing cupcakes on 50th between 6th and 7th Aves with all of his friends in New York!
Awesome! I want one!!!
This is absolutely the best dining deal in NYC right now.
You can’t order a cocktail at Del Posto for less than $29, so this is a steal!
For me, it’s a toss up between Mario Batali’s Babo or Del Posto as the best Italian on the island. Michelin awarded both only one star (shocking in my opinion). Both are unforgettable and worth every penny.
So New Yorkers, go! Enjoy this menu! Try to savor and not devour :)

The recession has affected us all in varying ways. Some of us have lost our jobs. Others have taken pay cuts and some are just trying to hang in there until things get better and they can sleep again at night. But the reality of the matter is that nonprofit organizations have been hit hard. New York State funding has been hit hard because of the stock market and organizations are now looking to their volunteers and lower level donors to fill the gap where state and foundation giving once flowed.
Executive Director of New York Cares Gary Bagley highlighted in a recent interview why it is important to get involved now more than ever:
- With the recession, there are a greater number of people in need.
- It’s a historic time for service. President Obama’s support for Serve America will make it possible for more Americans to do national and community service.
- The recession is changing the way we view the needs of our community. Whether unemployed, seeking meaningful ways to utilize time off, or genuinely moved by the great needs of our city, people are volunteering in greater numbers. In February and March, twice as many people volunteered as last year. Overall, there is a 15% increase.
- New York Cares bridges the gap between the increasing number of people at risk and the growing group of volunteers who want to help.

If you care, but don’t have the time to give. DONATE - they quadruple every dollar donated through their volunteers.

Scuderia =
- One of the newest restaurant hotspots in NYC
- Means a place where racing horses were kept
- Serves simple Italian dishes horses wouldn’t eat and neither should you
= NOT WORTHY OF YOUR TIME OR TASTEBUDS
“Del Posto is the ultimate expression :: of what an Italian restaurant should be.” That’s verbatim from the website. As it’s a Mario Batali experience, you should expect the best. I’m not sure I would call it “the expression of an Italian restaurant” but it’s unbelievably delicious.
Tonight we dined on risotto with crab and jalepeno (primi for 2) that takes 35 minutes to cook, and halibut that was lighter than a baby’s bottom. Both were melt in your mouth amazing.
Babbo and Il Mulino still steal my heart for the ultimate Italian experience in NYC, but Del Posto is nothing to sneeze at. If you’ve got the cash, spend it here and enjoy the experience.
One Stop Shop in NYC
Reader Jenny just wrote an email asking if I have a Golden Nail/Anya combo for a good, cheap spa day in NYC. In fact I do! BB Nails on 30th and Lexington (6 train to 33rd or 28th) 212-689-1892 Waxing is $9 and mani-pedi is around $30. Ask for Lucy, but everyone there does a good job.
Voted one of last year’s top newcomers to the NYC restaurant scene, Commerce is a hustlin’ and bustlin’ West Village brasserie with a young crowd looking to be part of the scene. That they are, but whether or not they enjoy the experience is another issue. ::
If you didn’t check out the menu online before you made the resi, you’d be surprised to see the sophisticated fare in such a casual setting. In fact, there are probably only a couple of things I would eat on the whole menu. Thank goodness there’s always the chicken.
After you ordered the bird, you’re ready to settle into a bottle of wine and catch up with your friends. But, what? What did you…I can’t hear you! That’s my tactless way of saying it’s so loud you can’t understand the person yelling at you 1 foot away.
If you this post is too cryptic, let me just say this. Skip it.
Out tonight to paint the town any shade I feel like it. First stop Commerce for dinner, second stop Ten June (ugh I know) for a friend’s birthday bash. Woo hoo!
Last night’s birthday bash was a complete success! Check out the photo gallery at Guest of A Guest for the scene.

Stay tuned for a drunken Birthday Bash Head to Toe from the 2 bitches (who had way to much champagne). ::
Right before Mary stuffed that cupcake in my face.
The Surface Above Air Under Water Whatever Party was way too chicer-than-thou so you didn’t have to pull my arm to get me and the fur misfit in a cab to Loreley on the LES.
Scrub a dub dub everyone in the tub. Yep, it’s that:: kind party at M:2 (the old Mansion on the infamous 28th Street).
