Chain me to the wall! – Litter SF

By Brandon Trentham

I love a girl with some edge.  A lady, yes lady, who isn’t afraid to take risks.  At the same time I can appreciate that risky isn’t always versatile.  So in this vein I offer you Litter, a clever line of accessories out of San Fran that allows you to rock out your current look, explore the motorcycle trend, and turn me on.

Litter’s head pieces, ear rings, body and shoe jewelry take your outfit to a whole new level of funky.  Play it safe with the shoe additions or go crazy with an ear cuff.  Fashion is still riding the 80’s wave you know.  Designers like Vivienne Westwood, Ann Demeulemeester, and Zac Posen are all over the chains.

Mackenzie and Rachel run the operation on their own now, but I forsee their designs blowing up!

Be cool before this stuff is drapped all over Lindsey Lohan – check out the line here!

You can never have enough accessories on a recessionista budget.  On this episode of TMI, I sit down with designer Kara Ackerman for tips on DIY jewelry that will help you save even more!

Learn how to make her signature piece as well as creations from things you already have.

Check out her 3 lovely collections (high-end, everyday, and men’s) that you can purchase online here.

I also follow her on Twitter and as well as her branding manager Greg Littley - that man knows everything! He also designed her logo (which I love!).

Elizabeth and James now has jewelry….
And it’s pretty cute.
When I first saw the feathers, I thought “Really? More feathers.  Isn’t that trend tired yet?”  But after a second look, it’s more intricate and sophisticated than we’ve seen before.  Prices range from $55 for silver pieces to $495 because they use gold.
Those Olsen twins have really outdone themselves with this label.  It’s a good thing, I was starting to think they were going to be washed up child actors (hopefully you hear my sarcasm.)
What I’m telling you is - we now we have one more thing to lust over from Elizabeth and James.

They’re baaaaack!
I can’t decide if I’m upset leggings are “in” AGAIN this year for the cold months or not. They’re easy and comfortable so I guess we can’t really complain.
I did, however, think it was comical Bergdorf felt the need to send me an email to alert me to this “new” trend.
So let’s think this through a little. Are we going to stick with what we know or are we so bored with leggings and tights we are finally going to venture outside our comfort zone with a pattern, color, or heaven forbid both?!
You probably have no idea what my intention is with my sarcasm so I’ll explain clearly.
For me, I don’t like patterns, textures, or certain colors (white, yellow, pink, orange in particular).  On other people, these variations look nice, but it’s just not me. I bought a pair of blue houndstooth from Fogel last year and they’ve never seen the light of day.
Besides the basics, what leggings or tights have you found you like on yourself or on another fashionista?

TMI Head To Toes

I love pulling wardrobe for our TMI shoots.  We’ve been able to incorporate some innovative new designers to pair with pieces from our own wardrobe.  And now the girls and getting involved in styling too!  Megs did a great job in finding dresses in Jessie James (her favorite NYC boutique) that Julia and I both loved.

Here our most recent TMI Head To Toes.  I wish I could say I had a favorite, but I really loved them all.  (Note: Items marked with a * were borrowed, all others were purchased.)

I’LL TAKE THE CLASSIC WRAP, HOLD THE MAYO - Chan Luu Wraps
I’ve been a fan of Chan Luu for years, but haven’t thought about her collection lately.  Now, her wrap bracelets - one of her signature pieces - are re-emerging in boutiques as a trendy accessory.
Recently I noticed my friend Lezlie had a couple wrapped around her wrist with her watch and a few other bracelets.  So much cuter than bangles - not to mention less annoying.
Later that week I was introduced to CL’s rep at a ZaZa event and before I could even get up the nerve to ask (or she knew my job as a blogger) she offered me a discount! Me turn down a discount?  No! So, I bought Mom and I the brown leather wrap with sterling silver beads - a versatile piece to go with everything.  Neither of us leave the house without them now.
Prices start at $170 and can escalate to over $450 for the 14k gold ones so the discount was a welcome surprise.  But I can honestly say I would pay the full $195 for the one I bought (maybe not some of the crazy colored ones…).  It’s a classic piece that will certainly find it’s way to the back of my jewelry box at one point, but when I discover it again down the road, I’ll fall in love with it all over again.

SPRING BLING - Maraquita Masterson
If you’ve been with my blog for a while, you know I’m a huge fan of Maraquita Masterson’s signature jewelry.  So I finally made it into their River Oaks store to see the whole collection in person. ::
I used to think MM was only for women over 40, but if you pair it with a trendy outfit, the large pieces become a statement and the squiggle design of the glass becomes funky instead of frumpy.
Earrings run $250 for silver and $275 for gold for any size.  They’re all handmade so size does not effect price.
Unfortunately you can’t buy them online, but you can see the designs close up on the website.  For questions and purchasing call their Houston store at 713-522-6774 or email them at mdesign1@sbcglobal.net.

And I love Maraquita Masterson rings too - they’re like the cherry on top accessory for your ensemble. Julia has the white one in a silver setting. (silver: $250-275)

This Marni purse caught my attention out of the corner of my eye.  Totally blogworthy.  Please buy it out from under me.  Three hundy ($300) isn’t in my gypsy budget if you know what I mean! ::

I lost my 3G iPhone on Saturday night.  I’m not sure if it’s a blessing or a curse, but I’m so happy to have my old one to fall back on.
And yes, I’m that diva wearing sunglasses inside. :: It feels safe behind them and my makeup-less face ain’t coming out.  So rip away, I don’t give a care (remember that from elementary school?! Wow, where did I pull that from.)
