Last night Googler and I dined at Aquagrill in SoHo on Julia’s recommendation. I see how she was in love with the food. Both Googler and I had spectacular pieces of fish in rich sauces that didn’t overpower the fillets. “I’m not a big fish fan, but I would give my Yellow Fin in peanut sauce a solid 8,” says G. But the seafood is pretty much all this restaurant should be known for.
The bright lights don’t help mask the aging decor that seems surprisingly older than the clientele. Although there are plenty of people assigned to a table, the service is spotty. And the almost average dessert sealed the deal for Aquagrill as I place I won’t revisit for dinner. However, on a summer day, I would set this spot as an outdoor brunch destination to enjoy great food and wine at a reasonable price.
If you’re looking for a delicious seafood dinner in a more trendy setting in Soho, I would recommend Lure on Mercer and Prince. Low lights and prices allow you to enjoy your fish feast.
