Friends Can Be Your Rosetta Stone
Looking for a way to improve your foreign language vocabulary and grammar while traveling? My advice: watch Friends. I haven’t been to a country yet that doesn’t run Friends on the local station. You already know the story so you can focus on subtitles and refresh your skills.
Over ten years ago, when I lived in Argentina for a summer, I was perfectly fluent in Spanish. I had been taking it in school from day 1, so the immersion was just what I needed to take my study to the next level. Now, with no reason to speak in Spanish, I’m a little rusty.
I took this picture on the treadmill at the gym. Multi-tasking at it’s finest: gaining knowledge while loosing the taco and tequila weight :)
