Ramshackle Glam (Tumblr): Do Not Pass Go, Do Not... →

Q. Hello Jordan,
I recently purged my closet with my daughter’s help, and discovered these full-leather boots, which have been sitting in my closet for over 15 (!) years.
My daughter said, “Mom, these look like galoshes. Not vintage treasures, just plain old ugly boots. They are…

A beautifying green smoothie
This morning my friend M.E. busted out her blender to make us a green smoothie before our walk (video coming on Monday of my arm exercises).
Her blend is thick, but it’s amazingly filling for having no protein.
Here’s the recipe from The Beauty Detox Solution, a book by Kimberly Snyder who promotes eating right to be more beautiful and healthy.
1 bunch of romaine lettuce

A pleasant surprise
I love it when my favorite bands cover awesome songs. Unfortunately my iphone video doesn’t really do the performance justice.
We caught Dawes the other night on a whim. If you’re not a fan, I believe you’re missing out on some pretty awesome music. Think a modern-day Tom Petty with a younger sensibility and southern soul. A little more rough around the edges too. I like...

Every spring, I have a tradition of hauling out my entire denim wardrobe and slicing up everything that I dare. You know all those pairs that you like but never wear - the ones that you put on because you “really should”…and then take off three seconds later because they’re fine and…

Open seasme!
At CVS a month ago this Almay concealer got my attention. It claims to “instantly awaken your eyes and reduce the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.” Sold!
I’ve been using it daily and it delivers on all three fronts. It’s like coffee for your eyes. Something in there actually tightens your eyes and makes them feel more open in the morning! As with most...

What piece of clothing surprised you this season?
I’ve never been a huge fan of jeans. Mostly because they’re tight and uncomfortable, especially when I sit down….They’re also hot….I have no idea how those hipsters squeeze all of their stuff into their skinny jeans during the hottest summer days, and I’m not going to ask.
J Brand was the first pair of jeans I actually put on willingly so it’s no...

THAT FAT THING ACTUALLY WORKS!
Today I didn’t have time to even throw lettuce in a bowl so I made a smoothie, which usually leaves me starving in minutes.
After having Hilary analyze my lunch, all I can think about are making well-rounded meals.
Behind my totally gross raw protein mix, I saw I had coconut oil which is ALL saturated fat. When added to anything, the coconut flavor shines through so I thought, “a...

"It's a healthy meal, but you'll be hungry in two...
My lunch looks healthy and filling, right?! Well, it is healthy, but it’s not well-rounded enough to stave off hunger. That’s what I learned from Hilary, the nutritionist at Blast900, the other day. I let her loose on my Whole Foods buffet loot, asking her to break down it down. Here’s what she had to say:
The Good:
COLOR MEANS NUTRIENTS: The more color that’s in...

Sun burn solution and more from Dr. Oz
Yes, I know, it’s embarrassing I watch Dr. Oz. I just have the tv on in the background and he comes on! But, as I suffer through it, I pick up a lot of great tips. Yesterday, there were so many I couldn’t type fast enough to keep up. Here are the ones I thought would be most helpful for you:
1. Sun Burn Remedy
Slice a fresh potato in half or blend one up in water. Apply...
