Getting a head start on New Year's resolutions!
I hate new year’s resolutions… I believe in evaluating my habits on a regular basis in an attempt to live a more enjoyable life. That being said, this year, I’m jumping on the bandwagon. I’m at a point I need to make some lifestyle changes, in particular cleaning up my diet.  I’m a firm believer that certain foods can effect body chemistry and therefore your...

My favorite albums of 2010
— Lindsey Rae, Indie Rocker MR Note: If you’re a music lover, take some time with this post.  The musicians Linds features are really awesome. Mumford & Sons is one of my all time  faves and I fell in love with Atomic Tom when she posted that impromptu subway video (below). Where and how she finds most of them, I don’t know and I don’t care.  But she has yet to cease...

GPOYW: For the love of God edition
I can honestly say I never thought I’d use the phrase “for the love of God” phrase literally. But here I am, using all of the elbow, shoulder, leg, arm grease I have to help renovate the new home of my church. With the new Girl Talk album blasting in my ears, I busted up that title floor! I actually conquered the area you see inside the door.  Shocked?  I was too.  But I guess I...

Best Dressed in 2010?
Everyone is posting their best and worst lists.  Sifting through, I found it interesting to see who was mentioned and who was left out. Vanity Fair named David but not Victoria Beckham. They even used that terrible photo of him.  Agree or disagree that he’s better dressed than she is? VF also applauded Diane Kruger and Carey Mulligan, but said nothing about Anne Hathaway, who I think...

Later Tree
This is why I work out…to haul Christmas trees. Kidding, this thing is light as a feather.  Which actually led me to write this post.  The most important thing I learned about holiday decorating: buy a smaller tree and put it up on a table.  The little guy will serve the same purpose and be much less hassle later. I always wondered why Mom went from a giant tree to a 5 footer - pure...

Coming soon....
My favorite coffee shoppes in LA, NYC, and Houston. I can’t say  “THE BEST” because let’s be honest, there’s no way I can discern anything as THE BEST of anything at 28 (besides Italian food!). Still a few more spots to try out, but as with all of my lists, you won’t be able to go wrong if you visit one. (Picture: My latte right now in Houston.  Catalina...

Looking to the new year....
..and reflecting back on 2010. Consider this: “We are going to hurt, but we are going to celebrate.  Without both, you’re not living.  Knowing both is living the beautiful life.” — Pastor Chris Seay In his teaching today, Chris reflected back on the story of the journey of Jesus (running from Herod and his heir) in terms of the characters. (In the Bible or anywhere...

What was your favorite gift? - Help us shop for...
Hope you have all enjoyed a happy holiday season surrounded by friends and family. The joy of each others’ company is sometimes burdened with the pressure to give “the perfect” gift, something that is useful, thoughtful, and will enrich their lives in some way. Then throw in your budget to that task, and it can be daunting. I’m guessing that you gave or were given...

Delicious Dish: My famous chocolate pie!
This pie is super simple and always the crowd favorite.  It tastes like brownie batter - so yummy!  The best part is, you can’t over or under cook it because the more gooey the better. You’ll need: 3 sticks of butter 6 heaping tbsp cocoa 6 eggs 3 cups sugar 6 tbsp flour 1 ½ tsp vanilla 2 unbaked pie crusts (in refrigerated cookie section) (pecans optional) Here’s...

Glass Half-Full Holiday Health
— By Nutritionista A lot of people (if not most) complain about the holidays in terms of what it does to their waistlines. Sure, there’s more food around — and more of it is on the indulgent side. But that’s why we have the Here and Now Concept, right? Beyond that, though, there are some other reasons why the holidays don’t have to be a debacle when it comes to...
